Microdermabrasion Ottawa

Microdermabrasion Ottawa - Dermatitis Herpetiformis is often abbreviated as DH or otherwise referred to as Duhring`s Disease. It is a chronic skin condition that is characterized by blisters that are filled with a watery fluid. The name itself translates to meaning that it is a skin condition having an appearance similar to herpes, even if, DH is not caused by or related to the herpes virus. DH was first described by Dr. Louis Duhring in 1884, therefore the name. In the year 1867, a correlation between celiac disease or gluten intolerance and DH was recognized. In nearly all of cases, the age of onset is usually 15 to 40 years, though, DH could also have an effect on kids as well as the elderly. Women and men are equally affected. The prevalence of DH varies from 1 in 400 to 1 in 10,000.

Signs

DH has a characteristic rash that contains chronic papulovesicular eruptions and is intensely itchy. Typically, this rash is distributed symmetrically on extensor surfaces like for instance the knees, elbows, buttocks, back and back of neck. The blisters could range from being up to 1 cm across to really small. As this condition is extremely itch intensive, the need to scratch can be overwhelming. This could cause the individual to actually scratch blisters off before they could be examined by a doctor. Intense itching or intense burning sensation are sometimes felt prior to blisters appearing in a particular place.

If left untreated, the severity of DH could considerably vary sooner or later. Normally, the signs initially appear in the early years of adulthood, usually between 20 and 30 years old. The first noticeable signs are the tiny papules or vesicles which resemble bumps or blisters. The first signs are intensive burning and itching. Normally, the very first blisters appear on the lower end of the spinal column, on the shoulders, along the hairline and sometimes in the mouth. Rarely, does the rash occur on other mucous membranes other than the mouth or the lips. If gluten ingestion is avoided and the right treatment is given, the signs often disappear. In some cases, taking oral contraceptives can worsen the symptoms.

The signs of dermatitis herpetiformis are persistent. Usually, the symptoms tend to come and go, often in short periods of time. These symptoms could be accompanied by tiredness and abdominal pain and some symptoms of celiac disease.

The DH rash normally forms and disappears in 3 stages. The patient will firstly see a slight discoloration of the skin where the lesions appear. The next stage will be the lesions transforming into groups of noticeable vesicles and papules. The healing stage of the lesions is the last stage of development. Normally this set of signs is characterized by a skin color change. This may result in parts of the skin turning darker or lighter compared to the color of the skin somewhere else on the body. Because of the intense itching, people normally scratch that can result in the formation of crusts.
