Chakra Ottawa - According to the Hindu tradition, the chakras are areas of biophysical or metaphysical energy in the human body. There are seven primary chakras, and many believe in additional lesser chakras located inside the body system. Several modern believers have drawn parallels between the major organs of the endocrine system and the chakra system.

A collection of lotus flowers ascending the spine to the crown of the head characterize the 7 main chakras. Every chakra has a component, plus a related colour plus mine of energy and each lotus has a particular number of petals. As the chakras progress from the lowest to the highest, they govern increasingly spiritual functions. As an individual gets extra spiritually conscious, they become in touch with the upper chakras one by one. The bottom chakra connects with essentially the most fundamental physical issues, while the highest represents enlightenment.

The Root Chakra is said to be located at the base of the spinal column. It is considered to represent basic instincts, survival and emotions of safety. The root chakra is related to the element of earth and the colour red. It's visualized as a four petal lotus.

The Sacral Chakra is said to live inside the pelvis or the groin. It's associated to emotions, sexual energy and creativeness. This chakra is related to the element water and the colour orange and is typified by a six petal lotus flower.

In the region where the thorax plus the abdomen meet is located the Solar Plexus chakra. It governs digestion, psychological function plus power. The solar plexus chakra colour is yellow and its' component is fire. It's typified by a 10 petal lotus.

The Heart Chakra controls tenderness and sympathy and it's connected with the chest region involving the lungs. The heart chakra is related to the colour green and the component of air. Its lotus has 12 petals.

communication, Self-expression, growth are all related to the Throat Chakra. It is delineated by a sixteen petal lotus and is related to the component of sound or life and the colour blue.

Another name for the Brow Chakra is the third eye. It governs perception and intuition and it represented by a 2 petal lotus. Its colour is indigo and it's connected to the element of light or time.

The Crown Chakra is thought to be the connection to the divine or to symbolize the head of spiritual awareness. Represented as a violet or white lotus having a thousand petals, its associated component is space or inspiration.
